For my whole life I loved real maple syrup. But as time went on a got more sensitive to sugar and preferred to use less and less. I never liked sugar free or just any other kind of syrup.
I got Maple Extract a couple of months ago to experiment with a lower glycemic index sugar. But I never did. Until today, I recently got Allulose and it worked like a dream. Maple taste, not a heavy sweet, just enough with no GI at all.
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup crystalized Allulose (or other sugar substitute)
- 1/4 tsp. Arrowroot Powder (optional, or other thickener of choice)
- 1 1/4 tsp. Maple Extract
Put water and sugar substitute into a small pan over low heat, allow it to come to a light simmer, the sugar substitute will melt, and thicken, add a tiny bit of a **thickener if you want to.
Allow to cool a bit, add to a container, like a small jar with a screw top lid. I used an old vanilla bottle and it probably could be doubled to fill that bottle. Pour out just a little bit of this syrup easily.
Note
** I used true Arrowroot powder, which puts not even 1 whole carb into this recipe.
